Lucent biosciences joined the Xlrator program

Lucent Biosciences has been getting significant traction from investors, Agtech experts, and other key players in the industry. XLRator is excited to spotlight Lucent Biosciences as we help connect them with investors and provide resources to help the company grow.

Lucent Biosciences recently joined the XLrator program. The company is on a mission to address climate impact on global food security and nutrition. The first product that Lucent Biosciences has developed is a sustainable agriculture fertilizer called Soileos.

Soileos was developed as a response to the global environmental crisis of soil degradation. Soil degradation is the physical, chemical and biological decline in soil fertility resulting in a decline in crop yields and a contributor of malnutrition and micronutrient deficiency in humans. It is considered one of the major challenges of global agriculture.

Soileos is a new class of micronutrient fertilizers, that delivers micronutrients like Manganese, Iron, Zinc, and Boron via biological demand to plant roots. This allows plants to take up exactly the amount of micronutrients that they need at each stage of their growth.

The patented technology is made by upcycling organic waste from the food processing industry. The product is non-toxic, EDTA-free and does not pollute the groundwater while increasing crop yield and nutrient density in food.

These are important benefits compared to existing EDTA-based chelated micronutrient fertilizer solutions, which are expensive, pollutant and the effectiveness in alkaline soils is limited.

“Soileos is a remarkable fertilizer”, said Jason McNamee, the Senior Biogeoscientist at Lucent Biosciences, “It releases nutrients only upon biological demand. Because the material does not leach, it works very well in alkaline soils and keeps the micronutrients available to crops for a much longer period of time than current fertilizers”.

“It is very exciting to work on a major innovation that makes agriculture more resilient to climate change, resolves a major problem of groundwater pollution while increasing crop yields” states Michael Riedijk, Lucent Biosciences CEO, referring to Soileos.

Lucent Biosciences has been getting significant traction from investors, Agtech experts, and other key players in the industry. The future of the company is looking promising as they are providing solutions that will benefit the global population.

XLRator is excited to spotlight Lucent Biosciences as we help connect them with investors and provide resources to help the company grow. We are definitely keeping an eye on the growth of this innovative company and look forward to their presence in the Fraser Valley in the coming years.
